Understanding the difference between transactional and transformational coaching is what separates technique from mastery.\n\nTransactional coaching works at the level of behavior--identifying problems, setting goals, and designing actions. It's valuable, but limited.\n\nWithout addressing the story underneath, the client risks reverting to old patterns the moment pressure returns. Transformational coaching works at the level of being. It invites clients to explore the identities, beliefs, and narratives that drive their choices. The focus shifts from "How do I change this behavior?" to "Who am I being that creates this experience?"\n\nFor coaches, learning this distinction is not academic--it's ethical.
